Sparta, NJ- Stephen W. Swentzel, 62, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 with his wife and children by his side. Steve was born in Paducah, Kentucky to John and Margaret (Forster) Swentzel. He was raised in Mount Olive, NJ and lived in Sparta for the past 30 years. Steve was an entrepreneur who founded, owned, and ran Sussex Concrete. Steve is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 39 years, Theresa (Tirone) Swentzel, daughter Danielle Swentzel, son Stephen Swentzel and his wife Laura, son Matthew Swentzel, and brother James Swentzel....

Sparta, NJ- Stephen W. Swentzel, 62, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 with his wife and children by his side. Steve was born in Paducah, Kentucky to John and Margaret (Forster) Swentzel. He was raised in Mount Olive, NJ and lived in Sparta for the past 30 years. Steve was an entrepreneur who founded, owned, and ran Sussex Concrete. Steve is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 39 years, Theresa (Tirone) Swentzel, daughter Danielle Swentzel, son Stephen Swentzel and his wife Laura, son Matthew Swentzel, and brother James Swentzel. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law Josephine Tirone and numerous brother and sister-in-laws he considered siblings. Steve is predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Swentzel, his brother John Swentzel, and his father-in-law James Tirone. Steve will forever be remembered as a loving husband and the best father. He loved coaching his kids in wrestling, baseball, softball, and being involved in every aspect of their lives. He will also be remembered for his big smile, good looks, stubborn nature, and for helping anyone and everyone. He was an avid Yankees fan (until they quadrupled his season ticket prices) who enjoyed golf, skiing, and speeding around town in his red trucks. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Newton Sparta Rd Sparta, on Tuesday, September 19th, at 2pm, followed by a celebration of his life at the Lake Mohawk Country Club at 3:30pm.
